It's a Good Friday...

Since haircuts with my normal stylist are a bust for Rickybear (and rather embarassing for me), I decided to take him to a place specifically for children.

He had fun playing trains while we waited for our turn.

The waterworks started as soon as he sat in the plane.  He kept ripping his cape off.

Not even a sucker would calm him down.

But he made it through.  The hairdresser was really patient and good with him.

That's the finished product.  Back to playing trains.  Oh, and that was his plane in the background.

Then we headed off with Eeyore to do some Easter shopping.

Followed by a special treat- Chick-fil-a!

Stealing daddy's glasses.  Too fun!

Easter pics- take 2!

Well, one baby down.  I received a text from my FIL saying they had arrived at the OTHER mall and were in line and the kids were excited.  The next text I received said that Ricky didn't want his picture taken but Carter had gotten his done.

Apparently, they were like 30th back when they got to the mall.  Ricky and Carter were good for awhile, then got antsy.  By the time it was their turn, Carter was happily cooing in the bunny's arms, while Ricky was throwing a fit.  The grandparents didn't want to spoil the picture, so after holding up the line awhile trying to get Ricky to cooperate, they finally just took the picture without him.

There will be yet another attempt at bunny pics tomorrow....

But isn't Carter's picture just precious???

Carter's 4 Month well visit

Yesterday was Carter's 4 month birthday!  Oh, how time flies!  I think he must have known that we were allowed to sleep in until 7:30am because he was bright eyed and giggly at 5am.  SERIOUSLY???  I was beyond annoyed.  I am in some serious need of a 5 hr uninterrupted block of sleep.

I got up and got hubby off to work, then packed the diaper bags for the day.  I dropped Rickybear off at Maw Maw's and then headed to the doctor with Carter.  He was so unsuspecting.

Here he is in the waiting room:

Once he was taken back to the room, I waited until they had weighed him to give him a bottle.  At this point, he is still only drinking expressed breast milk, except on rare occasions.  My milk supply is starting to drop a little, so I will have to start pumping more and eat more oatmeal and lactation cookies.  My goal is 6 months of EBM only!

His cradle cap is still there a little, but he checked out perfectly!  Here are his stats:

Weight: 13 lb 15 oz
Height: 25.75 in
Head Circ: 17

After his exam, I got him dressed again while we waited for the nurse to come in with his shots.  =(

I need to start him on vitamin D supplements.

I won't post the picture of him crying after his shots.  He had that sweet gunk that he had to swallow, followed by 3 shots.  He cried a lot longer than I anticipated.  It made me feel pretty bad.  Maw Maw said he didn't look like he felt good, but he slept a lot and also played a lot.  Last night he had a fever of 99.6 at 9:30 when I checked him, so he got his first ever dose of acetaminophen.  He was hot all night an restless and cried a lot.  I had to hold him to get him to sleep for more than a few minutes at a time.  At 2am, he was 99.7 so he got another small dose.  It doesn't help that the house was shaking last night due to the thunderstorms and that the bedroom was warmer than usual.  I hope he has a good day today!

We have had quite a few milestones in our household that I haven’t yet shared!

On Friday 3/23, Rickybear jumped up and down for the first time on the floor.  He has been jumping on the bed, but never actually lifted off the ground before.

On Friday 3/30, Rickybear another took on the bottom tooth.  By Sunday, he had but the matching tooth on the other side.  He now has all of his baby teeth except for his 2 yr molars.

On Saturday 3/31, Carter discovered he had FEET!!!  And also, Ricky snorted water up his nose during bath time.  He has taken to laying on his tummy some during bath time and I think he learned a lesson… Our other big achievement was Ricky COUNTING TO TEN!!  About a dozen times!!!  I was so proud.  I think that’s awesome for a 22 month old!

Easter pictures- take one

I decided yesterday since hubby was at work that I would go ahead and take the boys to have their Easter Bunny pictures taken.  It took me almost an hour to pack their bags with clothes and snacks, diaper change and dress both boys in cute little outfits, , find matching shoes, take the jogging stroller out of the car and put the double stroller in, get some food in them, and load them in the car.  Whew!  So, I checked the Cortana Mall web site right before I left the house and it confirmed that they were open for Easter pictures from 12-5 (with a bunny lunch break from 2:15 – 3). Awesome.  I drive out there and load the kids and bags into the stroller, feed Carter a bottle, and mix Ricky some formula.  Mom meets me up there and we stand in line at 12:15p and there is no bunny in sight.  Not only is there no bunny, but the people in the front of the line finally go to the info desk only to be told that the bunny was there but the photographer wasn’t.  We were told they should be there soon.  Proper courtesy and good business would have been to have a mall representative come tell everyone about the delay, or at least post a sign up!  An hour later, both kids are no longer happy and neither am I.

Mom suggests we go eat, so we head to Burger King.  While there, hubby calls to say he is leaving work and can meet me.  I call the mall to confirm the bunny was there and they say OF COURSE.  I had to explain why I was asking and she apologized and confirmed the photographer had finally made it.  Hubby gets there and mom leaves to finish her Easter shopping.  Hubby and I drive back over to the mall and load the kids up.  We get in there and are third in line.  When it’s our turn, I wake Carter up and hubby (who has been holding Rickybear) sets Ricky down.  Ricky walks right up to the bunny and hops in his lap!!!  We place Carter in the other arm of the bunny and THEY BOTH ARE SMILING!!  The lady takes 4 pics and asks me to come see how good they were… and… wait for it… the computer freezes and won’t come back up!

So yeah, that was the end of our Easter Bunny pictures.  Hubby was so disappointed. I snapped a few with my phone, but they weren’t centered, Carter had a spitup issue, and both kids didn’t smile pretty at the same time, but at least we have something to remember the occasion with.  If hubby hadn’t been there, I probably would have lost it on the poor girl.    She was calling tech support over and over but no one was answering.

Rick’s parents are going to make an attempt to take the kids at some point this week to the other mall.  Hope they have better luck than I did!!

Here are some snapshots from the excursion:

Cutie pie

I would love to say he was disappointed not to see the bunny,
but in reality he was just scared to be up that high.

In line a second time with daddy

Looks like they are sharing a secret

Cheese face (he wasn't fussing)
He kept petting the bunny's arm

LOVE the weather

Last Saturday Carter and I did the 5k Heart Walk.  We had a fun time!

Afterwards I was able to get most  of my chores done in time to spend some quality time outseide with Carter while daddy and Ricky were out running errands.  This was his first time laying in the grass!

The cutest thing ever!

Outfit courtesy of his Maw Maw!

Yesterday when I got home with the kids, I threw my bags inside and then took the kiddos on a walk.  Half an hour later I walk in and the power is off.  Yuck!  So I grab the chicken I thawed out and some stuff to make dinner and headed out to my mom's house.  On my way there, I get a call that the power was back on.  I am almost at my mom's so I went ahead and cooked there.  I packed the food up and headed back home an hour later.  I was almost home... and .... you guessed it- the power was back off!  Grrrr!  So I drop dinner off with hubby at the house and pack a bag, and the kiddos and I go back to my mom's.  So much for having a productive evening!  But, I did learn that Rickybear is a huge fan of running around in the dark with a flashlight.  He was hysterical and it was such a treat to watch him.

From all angles

Just wanted to document how all around adorable my kid is.  Even when he cried for an hour last night because I couldn't hold him constantly. Even when I had to sing every baby song I could think of for half an hour while he hiccuped in my arms and finally fell asleep, even when he had gas in the middle of the night, and even when he woke up at 4:30am ready for the day to start.

But look... baby bodies are so perfect.  It's amazing what they can do.  I am thankful every day of how happy and healthy this kid is, just as Ricky was.

Sketti love

My mom and I did some freezer cooking on Saturday and one thing we made was meatballs. We had already given my dirty boy his bath when he decided that he did want spaghetti after all.  Oy!  But he loved it, so I guess it was worth the mess.

Oh, and he loves naming the pictures on his plate!  He will point out Elmo, apples, banana, etc.  He knows too many words.  That's his favorite plate!

Wordless Wednesday

Carterbug is ROLY POLY nowadays.

He rolled over from back to belly for the first time on Friday 3/16/12 and now he won't stop.

I am paranoid because he wants to sleep on his tummy now and this mama is NOT cool with that!

Happy St. Patty's Day!

I have a little Irish on both sides of my family, so my sons have a little, too.  They spent the day with me at Nana's while daddy worked hard on the bathroom tiles at home.

Loving the weather!

I am loving the warm weather and the time change.  I can get home early enough to actually spend some time outdoors.  On Tuesday, I put Carter in the wrap and strapped Ricky into the stroller and we walked the neighborhood.  Yesterday Iset Carter on the front sidewalk so Ricky could play in the lawn, but he really wanted to go out, so I conceeded and pulled out the wagon.  It wasn't exactly ideal, but Ricky held onto Carter really well!  Good grief, I am sure I got some strange looks....
